I’ve been trying to find a new pair of wellies for a couple of years now. My old pair – £10 from Tuffins supermarket 10 years ago- had lasted me well but had developed a tiny hole, which managed to let in a surprisingly large amount of water.
You wouldn’t think it would be so difficult to buy a pair of wellies but I turned it into something of an art form and had a few false starts. However, I now have a pair of lovely Aigle wellies with an anti fatigue sole, which makes them very comfortable indeed. They weren’t cheap but, as I virtually live in them, the cost per wear is now down into pennies.
With the weather we’ve had so far this winter I’m glad that I finally made the purchase. Especially as I’ve set myself a goal of averaging 10,000 steps a day this year. So whatever the weather has thrown at us, the dogs and I have ventured out every day this year so far. Along with my wellies, I have a waxed hat, my down jacket and my waterproof trousers and we’re set.
I’ve noticed a big difference compared to last winter. I’m fitter and my mood is better. On a wet and windy day I return red cheeked and exhilarated. On a sunny day, with a bit of warmth in the winter sun, I’ve returned calm and soothed.
And whilst it may feel like it’s rained everyday this winter, it really hasn’t! This photograph was taken yesterday ( February 12th ). A day to lift the spirits and soothe the soul.
